PROJECT SUMMARY

The general objective of PHIRE is to contribute to the improvement of public health knowledge and practice across the European Union by assessing the uptake and impact of the first Public Health Programme (PHP), and structuring information on public health research.

PHIRE will explore uptake of knowledge from public health actions funded under the first PHP at national level across Europe. PHIRE will investigate the impact of European public health actions in EU Member States and study the incorporation of outcomes by national and regional authorities into health policy and health regulations.

PHIRE will make a judgement on the impact in terms of effectiveness, relevance, sustainability and acceptability of the public health programme and propose recommendations for improved effectiveness of current and future health programmes.
